Dealer numbers hit 14-month high
Monthly jump for traders register helps deliver its biggest total since the end of 2022.

The number of dealers on the Motor Vehicle Traders Register (MVTR) increased by 13 last month, with the total at the end of February standing at 2,923.
The figure is the highest since December 2022 when there were 2,940 registered traders.
Last month’s increase follows the total remaining stable at 2,910 at the end of both December 2023 and January 2024.
The latest tally is also 36 higher than the 2,887 traders on the register in February 2023.
Dealer numbers have largely been in decline since hitting a high of 3,536 in November 2017.
The MVTR holds essential information about registered traders and their businesses. It is operated by Trading Standards, which falls under the remit of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
