Back to black for X factor

The popular Ranger Wildtrak X is making a return to dealerships in early 2021 with a range of design, value features and interior upgrades over the standard variant.

“Since we first launched the Wildtrak X in the second half of 2020, it has proven popular with customers,” says Simon Rutherford, managing director of Ford New Zealand.

“With the arrival of the more aggressively designed 2021 X, we aim to ensure it remains front of mind.”

The previous Wildtrak X, which is now sold out, has contributed to the Ranger’s ongoing success in New Zealand.

The marque has now secured an extra limited run of the X models for this country. Its upgrades over the standard model include a black nudge bar, 20.5-inch slimline LED bar, unique 18-inch black alloys with 35mm offsets and wheel-arch flares now in ebony black.

Also in black are the side steps, front grille Saber accent “nostrils” and rear sail plane.

The roof rails, box rails, lower front-bumper insert, rear bumper, headlamp bezels, mirror caps, fender features, and door and tailgate handles are also all finished in (yup, you’ve guessed it) ebony black.

In addition, there are illuminated scuff plates for the front doors, and unique seat materials with accent colours.

The addition of the 2021 Wildtrak X builds on Ford NZ’s fresh arrivals, which will continue into the new year, while the all-new Puma and Escape are proving popular across the country.

With the new FX4 MAX and updated Wildtrak X, and introduction of the XLT with the popular bi-turbo and 10-speed transmission, Rutherford says the blue oval’s Ranger will be strongly positioned to maintain its leadership into 2021.

The recommended retail price for the Wildtrak X starts at $75,490.
