VINZ open for essential services

Vehicle Inspection NZ (VINZ) testing stations across the country remain open under Covid-19 alert level four but only for inspections of essential service vehicles.

Sean Stevens, chief executive, says its branches in Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Lower Hutt, Nelson, Christchurch, Timaru, Dunedin are all operating for bookings made through local managers.

“Services must be booked with only one vehicle and customer onsite at any one time,” explains Stevens, pictured.

Customers must sign in using the Covid tracker as part of the company’s “no sign in, no service” policy. They must also wear masks for all interaction with staff, maintain social distancing protocol and hand sanitiser will be available for their use.

Stevens notes only one employee will deal with each customer to assist with contact tracing and staff working during the lockdown will undergo temperature checks at the beginning of each shift.

VTNZ has announced on its website and on social media that all its branches will be closed on August 18, with more details about its future plans to come.

“As it always has been, our main priority at VTNZ is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our team members and our customers,” it adds.
