There were 3,612 new commercials registered last month, an increase of 8.1 per cent when compared with 3,342 in June 2024. 

Ford’s Ranger was the best-selling model in June with 876 units, which was one per cent fewer than the 885 units it sold in the same month a year ago. 

Next was the Toyota Hilux on 658 registrations, a year-on-year increase of 11.3 per from 591.

BYD’s Shark 6, pictured, was launched this year and took out third spot in June with 412 sales, followed by the Mitsubishi Triton on 354 and Nissan’s Navara with 240. 

The Ranger leads the year-to-date standings with 4,388 registrations and a 23.3 per cent share of the market.

In second place is the Hilux on 4,094 and 21.7 per cent, and the Triton is third on 1,667 units and 8.8 per cent.

The market’s overall year-to-date total stands at 18,856 units.

On the marques’ ladder, Ford was top in June with 989 registrations, albeit down from 1,040 a year ago, and a market share of 27.4 per cent.

Toyota was next on 853 units, which was up 12.2 per cent from 760 in June 2024, and BYD was third on 412.

Toyota tops the year-to-date charts with 5,172 registrations and a market share of 27.4 per cent. Ford is second with 4,987 and 26.4 per cent and Mitsubishi completes the top three on 1,668 and 8.8 per cent.

Used market tumbles

As for used-imported commercials, the 275 units registered in June was down 37.5 per cent from 440 in the same month last year. This brings the year-to-date total to 2,011.

Toyota’s Hiace was the top model last month on 62 registrations and a market share of 22.5 per cent, despite its tally falling 58.9 per cent from 151 registrations in the previous June.

The Nissan NV350 was next on the ladder with 24 registrations, followed by Hino’s Dutro on 18.

The Hiace is the leading model year to date with 656 sales and a 32.6 per cent market share, and Nissan’s NV350 is second on 148 units and 7.4 per cent.

Toyota was the top marque last month with 98 registrations, a 50.3 per cent decrease from 197 a year ago.

Following the Japanese marque was Nissan with 53 units, Isuzu on 22, Hino with 21, and Mitsubishi on 16.

Year to date, Toyota has 894 registrations and a 44.5 per cent market share. Nissan is next on 377 and 18.7 per cent, with Isuzu third on 130 and 6.5 per cent.
