Used imports decrease

The number of used-imported cars registered in New Zealand fell by 12.9 per cent last month to 6,808, when compared with the 7,820 units in June 2024.
The latest figure takes the year-to-date total to 41,950, which is 19.4 per cent lower than the 52,048 units at the same stage a year ago.
The Toyota Aqua was the most popular model last month with 668 registrations – down 0.7 per cent from 673 units in June last year – and a market share of 9.8 per cent.
Next was Toyota’s Prius on 557 units and 8.2 per cent of the market and the Nissan Note on 329 and 4.8 per cent.
Honda’s Fit was fourth with 314 sales for a 4.6 per cent market share and the Toyota Corolla completed the top five on 311 units and 4.6 per cent.
The Note, pictured, produced the highest year-on-year increase of the top five models, with its sales increasing 26.1 per cent from 261 in June 2024.
The Aqua is top of the year-to-date standings on 4,234 units and a market share of 10.1 per cent, followed by the Prius on 3,049 and 7.3 per cent.
Toyota was the leading marque in June with 2,478 registrations for 36.4 per cent of the market. Its monthly total was down by 11.6 per cent from 2,804 in the same month of 2024.
Nissan was the second most popular brand last month with 1,034 units for a market share of 15.2 per cent, and Mazda was third on 951 registrations, or 14 per cent.
Year to date, Toyota is number one on the marques’ ladder with 15,472 registrations and a 36.9 per cent market share.
Nissan is next on 5,877 and 14 per cent, and Mazda has 5,536 and 13.2 per cent.
