Snapshots with speed cameras

A speed camera in France got turned into an impromptu photo booth as part of a stunt that encouraged motorists to drive faster.

Serial prankster Remi Gaillard lined up a number of portrait shots at the roadside and urged cars to whizz by so the speed cameras would flash and capture the moment on film.

A model is first seen posing in front of the device, then a bride and groom get some wedding pictures taken, and finally, some footballers line up for a team shot with Gaillard also joining the players.

The French funnyman captioned the YouTube video from 2015: “Fed up with digital pictures... fortunately the government puts at our disposal devices that still make beautiful paper photos.”

The clip has been viewed more than 9.8 million times and one imagines the stunt caused police quite a shock when they were sorting through images of speeding vehicles.

It’s not the first time Gaillard has had fun with speed cameras as he previously dressed up as one to fool drivers into thinking they’d been caught breaking the law.
