NZ’s best dealerships revealed

A Gisborne dealership has been named the best in New Zealand after topping an annual poll based on customer reviews.

Ray Scragg Motors, pictured, was crowned the supreme winner in the BuyerScore 2020 Dealership Awards with a rating of 4.94 out of five.

The company has been trading for more than 20 years and also took out the medium dealership category.

Second place in the national standings went to Westend Autos in Te Awamutu, followed by Dave Panton Car Sales in Taradale, Max Motors in Lower Hutt and Mazda Homegrown Direct Imports in Auckland.

The BuyerScore awards recognise dealerships based on customer service, knowledge and expertise, dealership facilities, finance and insurance, and trade-in process.

Its rankings are determined using a weighted average formula that takes into account the quantity and values of customer ratings received by each dealership in a calendar year. Businesses must also meet a minimum set of criteria to qualify.

BuyerScore describes Ray Scragg Motors obtaining the highest overall rating as “a fantastic effort by a great bunch of people”.

Westend Autos was also named the country’s top small dealership, while Morrison Cars in Sockburn, Christchurch, won the large dealership category.

Jayden Ashton of Tauranga Cars won the national award for the best salesperson. He was followed by Lance Morrison of Morrison Cars, and Steve Greenwood of Drive EV in Taupo.

The BuyerScore website was launched by Motorcentral in 2019 to allow consumers to independently rate and review car dealerships, with the results displayed online.
