New hypercar speeds into view
Bugatti has unleashed a concept car it describes as almost on a par with Formula One vehicles and that delivers a top speed of more than 500kph.
The Bugatti Bolide is a track-focused hyper sports car featuring a modified version of the marque’s W16 engine and a minimal body to provide maximum downforce.
It is “the most extreme, uncompromising, fastest and lightest vehicle concept in our company’s recent history”, says the company.
The car has an eight-litre quad-turbo W16 engine, which Bugatti says will deliver 1,825 horsepower, and the vehicle weighs in at only 1,240kg after being built with 60 per cent more carbon fibre than previous models.
For context, Bugatti’s current fastest production car is the Chiron Super Sport 300+ that can hit speeds of 500kph and has 1,600 horsepower.
Stephan Winkelmann, chief executive officer, says: “We have freed the vehicle of all baggage and have illustrated and combined the engine with the lightest possible chassis to create the ultimate Bugatti and to ensure the ultimate driving experience.
“With the Bolide, we are presenting our interpretation of a Bugatti track car of modern times to Bugatti enthusiasts all over the world and finally make their most fervent wishes come true.”
