Mitsubishi sales hit new high

Mitsubishi Motors NZ (MMNZ) is celebrating selling a record 2,116 vehicles in June, which tops the previous high set in 1985 when the company was manufacturing cars in Porirua.

The marque’s ASX led the way with 740 units sold last month, while the Triton and Outlander had 569 and 408 registrations respectively.

There were also 280 orders for Outlander and Eclipse Cross, pictured, plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models.

Reece Congdon, head of marketing and corporate affairs, says: “These results are testament to a modern, dynamic range, perfectly in tune with current Kiwi lifestyles and budgets – underpinned by the hard work and dedication of a passionate dealer network.”

“The arrival of Eclipse Cross PHEV in June coincided with the government’s clean-car discount, which has provided a further incentive for the increasing number of drivers for whom more sustainable transport solutions are a key consideration.”
