Marque targets ‘new generation’

Lexus says the LBX is the most attainable model in the marque’s Kiwi line-up with a price of $58,900 plus on-road costs for the Active variant with front-wheel drive (FWD).

Andrew Davis, vice-president of Lexus NZ, says the all-new model offers the full brand experience to customers who may aspire to owning a Lexus but haven’t considered the brand before.

“It is designed for a new generation of drivers. All the key elements of Lexus are encapsulated in the sub-compact LBX – a brave and unique design, high quality materials and construction, plus a carefully thought-through driving experience.”

Slotting in under the popular UX crossover, the LBX is the first Lexus to be offered in three “moods” to match different lifestyles.

Rather than traditional Lexus “grades”, these moods “reflect different lifestyles”. The Active has 18-inch dark-grey metallic and machined alloys, a two-tone exterior and black synthetic leather seats.

The Lexus Safety System+ package comes as standard, while the Relax and Cool offer a panoramic view monitor and 12.3-inch head-up display.

The Relax rides on 18-inch dark premium metallic alloys and has an adaptive high-beam system. Passengers can relax on black and dark grey semi-aniline leather accented seats while listening to a 13-speaker Mark Levinson premium system.

The Cool has 18-inch black alloy wheels. It features the latest Lexus Safety System+ and Lexus teammate – that’s to say, auto parking – with six front and rear-parking sensors. It has a multi-colour interior illumination for passengers to “dial up or down the mood”.

The Active is only available in FWD, while the Relax and Cool are available FWD or E-Four all-wheel drive. Pricing ranges from $58,900 for the LBX Active to $68,900 for the AWD Cool.
