Kia offers glimpse of electric future

Kia New Zealand is looking forward to welcoming a new vehicle that will lead the marque’s charge into an electrified future.

Teaser images of the EV6 have been released and provide a glimpse of the carmaker’s first dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) built on its new EV platform – Electric-Global Modular Platform, or E-GMP.

The EV6, pictured, will eventually join the brand’s growing range of EVs in New Zealand, which includes the recently arrived Sorento HEV and PHEV.

Todd McDonald, managing director of Kia NZ, says: “The new EV6 is an exciting vehicle that signals the start of Kia’s shift to a more electrified future.

“With a greater range and more user-friendly technologies, the EV6 will deliver an enhanced driving experience to New Zealand owners.”

Kia’s new BEVs will all start with the prefix “EV” to help consumers to understand which vehicles are fully electric, and this will be followed by a number corresponding to the car’s position in the line-up.

The EV6, the first of 11 zero-emissions cars Kia plans to release by 2026, is due to make its world premiere before the end of March 2021.
