Wanganui Motors has been a family owned dealership for over 62 years, and has established itself as well-known and respected business in the region. There is a strong team-oriented culture, balanced with clear commercial drivers. People who join their business are well looked after and have the potential to grow within the organisation, noting that it is part of a large and successful multi branch North Island dealership.

The owner is seeking a new Dealer Principal (DP) to enhance the strong foundation that has been built by the current DP, who is retiring, and to make the dealership their own. To be considered for this position, you must have had a successful career as a Sales Manager, Branch Manager or GM in an automotive dealership.

It is essential that you are highly personable and likeable, someone who has natural self-confidence, who is self-driven and who can create a team of high performers, while ensuring a positive work culture. You must also be a high achiever, someone who thrives on being challenged to deliver, and have shown that you can build and maintain a business and community network and profile. Having good financial and commercial acumen, and the proven ability to formulate and deliver an annual business game plan, will also be sought after attributes.

This role will appeal a career minded person who has strong aspirations to be a DP, and who wants to progress their career into a business leadership role. It is rare that DP opportunities of this type come up, particularly with these major automotive brands.

The owner is committed to providing personal support and mentoring for the right person, to help you to develop and transition into the DP role. If you are successful, the role would commence 1 April 2026.
