The Subaru XV has been given a cosmetic spruce up as the 2021 version of the SUV hits the New Zealand market.

The model gains new-design alloy wheels, a new front bumper, and the fog light shape and front grille have also had a tweak. It also comes in a new bold colour called Plasma Yellow Pearl.

There will be three versions – Subaru XV, XV Premium, and XV e-Boxer Hybrid – and all feature EyeSight, Subaru’s own crash-avoidance technology along with all-wheel drive and a two-litre Boxer engine.

Subaru Intelligent Drive, an engine management system with driver-selectable modes tailored to suit different conditions and moods, is standard on all models.

The range also includes an automatic door lock function, which locks all the vehicle’s doors once it begins moving, and unlocks them again once the SUV stops and is placed in park.

Wallis Dumper, managing director of Subaru of New Zealand, says the XV first joined the marque’s line-up in 2012 and he predicts the latest iteration will appeal to active outdoors types.

“The XV has been popular for Subaru since its arrival and has tripled in sales since the second generation launched in 2017,” he adds.

“We anticipate the 2021 upgrades will continue to appeal to those compact SUV drivers who value the benefits of Subaru’s sure-footed symmetrical all-wheel drive and the power provided by our Boxer engine, along with the technological and cosmetic enhancements.”
