Drama after alleged raid on dealership
Three people have been arrested after a ute was allegedly stolen from a South Auckland dealership and used to ram into a nearby business.
Police say they were notified of an incident at a car yard in Stonedon Drive, East Tamaki, at about midnight on February 12.
A white ute was allegedly taken from the site and driven to Maurice Paykel Place where it crashed into a commercial building.
One person was arrested while two others climbed into the ceiling of the premises to avoid capture, notes a police statement.
“One of the two then fell to the ground,” it adds.
“Police provided first aid at the scene and the alleged offender was taken to Middlemore Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A third person was taken into custody without incident.”
A 25-year-old man was charged with burglary and a 29-year-old man was charged with burglary and wilful damage. The man in hospital had not been charged as of February 15.
