Daylight robber takes Porsche from yard

A brazen thief has stolen a Porsche from an Auckland dealership just moments after it was delivered to the yard.

The $110,000 Cayenne, pictured, had been imported from the UK and was taken from Just Prestige in Eden Terrace at about 1pm on March 22.

A company spokesman says a staff member checked the car after it was delivered from Customs and went to the showroom to complete registration work.

When they returned a few minutes later the vehicle was gone, reports RNZ.

CCTV footage shows a man walking into the yard and driving away in the car, which still had the keys in it because the staff member “thought they would be straight back”.

The spokesman warns other businesses to pay more attention to security following the “outrageous” theft in broad daylight.

He adds the Cayenne still had its UK plates on and because the registration process has not been completed, it will not be able to get a local number plate or be driven on our roads legally.

Police are investigating. Just Prestige is also appealing for any information and offering a reward for any useful leads.
