Clean car discount details online
Dealers are being encouraged to direct consumers to the Rightcar website for details about the possible fees and rebates vehicles will attract once the clean car discount is introduced from April 1.
The Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association (VIA) has advised its members such information is now available on the consumer pages of the website, which is administered by Waka Kotahi.
An updated search engine allows the public to check a vehicle’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and the discount or penalty it may attract upon registration in New Zealand.
The online tool notes the cash figures are indicative only and fees will be confirmed at registration and rebates upon application.
Malcolm Yorston, VIA’s technical manager, says: “The Ministry of Transport has informed VIA that the public can now access details of fees and rebates on www.rightcar.govt.nz.
“We recommend members to direct consumer enquiries on fees and rebates to the Rightcar website.”
