Marque broadens model range

Mazda has announced it is broadening the CX-80 range by introducing a new petrol hybrid variant this year.

The seven-seat SUV was first introduced in late 2024 and has been available with either a four-cylinder plug-in hybrid or six-cylinder mild hybrid powertrain.

The marque says the CX-80 Homura 3.3 Hybrid will join the New Zealand line-up from mid-2025 and be priced from $82,990, excluding on-road costs.

The 3.3-litre, six-cylinder turbocharged petrol hybrid engine produces power of 209kW and torque of 450Nm.

Other features of the new variant include a Bose audio system, panoramic glass sunroof, electric steering column adjustment and heated outer rear seats in addition to those in front.

The driver personalisation system is also enhanced to include driving position assist, which recommends the ideal driving position when behind the wheel of a CX-80.

David Hodge, Mazda NZ managing director, says: “The CX-80 has hit the ground running since launch last year, incredibly well-received by our customers, and is proving to be a valued choice for families and those wanting a large SUV.

“With the introduction of the Homura 3.3 Hybrid, this provides another choice – offering either the exceptional capabilities of a plug-in hybrid or the sound, smoothness and performance only found in an inline six.”
