Car’s new life as ping pong table

A French artist turned a car into a ping pong table, although players do have the extra challenge – or advantage – of the ball ricocheting at strange angles off the vehicle’s tyres.

The unusual work in the video below was installed in the grounds at Maison Salvan, a centre for contemporary and visual art in Laberge, France, in 2016.

It is the creation of Benedetto Bufalino, who chopped off the windows and roof of a white Renault before flipping it over and fitting a wooden “table top” complete with a rectangular “net” to the car’s underside.

He took the idea further in 2017 and created La limousine table de ping-pong, pictured below, a stretched-out version that incorporated an old Fiat Panda and went on display in the French city of Lyon.
