Knitted traffic officer slows drivers
A knitting group in England has created a number of woollen figures, including an officer brandishing a mock speed gun, to fool drivers into slowing down as they travel through their community.
Members of the Fillongley Knit and Natter group have dotted their creations around the Warwickshire village this month, with other creations including children carrying road safety messages and zebras perched on crossing signs
The group is using its knitting skills to draw attention in a light-hearted manner to road safety issues affecting the village.
Heather Badham, parish clerk and a member of the group, told the BBC that many residents chuckle when they see vehicle brake lights coming on as the knitted mannequin with a camera tricks people.
“They think it’s an actual speed camera and they slow down,” she told the news site.
