TV trio’s last hurrah

The trio of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are calling time on more than two decades of bringing automotive fun and frivolity to our television screens.

The presenters, who first came together for BBC’s Top Gear and then The Grand Tour on Amazon Prime Video, decided to embark on a final road trip, which will screen on September 13.

An official trailer for The Grand Tour: One For The Road was released this week and shows the three motoring enthusiasts joking and getting into scrapes as they travel across Zimbabwe and into Botswana in cars they always wanted to own.

Clarkson is shown behind the wheel of a Lancia Montecarlo, Hammond a Ford Capri RS3100 and May a Triumph Stag.

The episode marks the end of a 22-year-long collaboration between the three after Clarkson and Hammond became hosts of Top Gear in 2002, with May joining two seasons later.

The BBC decided not to renew their contracts in 2015 and the trio started The Grand Tour the following year. Amazon Prime Video says the series will continue with new hosts, who have yet to be announced.
