Turners seeks help after raid
Turners Cars is seeking help from dealers to help it track down cars stolen during a burglary at its Te Rapa Road site in Hamilton.
The company says the branch was broken into sometime after 8pm on Saturday, November 5, and three cars were stolen along with most of the keys to the vehicles on the dealership.
Greg Hedgepeth, chief executive officer of Turners Auto Retail, adds: “We’re obviously gutted but we are now just getting on with fixing the situation, and getting all the keys replaced.
“Fortunately, none of our staff were hurt as the break-in was after hours. Our Avalon Drive branch is close by, so we’ve been able to easily look after our customers down there and we are reopening Te Rapa this week.”
He says the primary concerns of the company at the moment are making sure every vehicle at the te Rapa Road site is safe and secure with a new set of keys.
“We are also very keen to catch the offenders to prevent them from committing more crimes against the people of Hamilton and the automotive community.”
To help apprehend the thieves, Turners is asking the Hamilton community and the wider New Zealand automotive industry to keep an eye out for the stolen vehicles, pictured.
A Volkswagen taken in the raid has already been recovered in Huntly. However, a 2019 Holden Commodore, registration LYY142 and VIN W0VZS6EC1J1072253, and a 2011 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, registration PCE240 and VIN WDD2211712A341647, are still missing.
“Any help from the wider dealer network in getting these back would be much appreciated,” the company says.
Anyone with information about these vehicles, is asked to contact Mark Bowers, Turners’ general manager cars north, on 027-700-0121.
