All change at Trade Me
Anders Skoe is stepping down as chief executive officer of Trade Me at the end of September and is being replaced by Kul Singh Kargil, pictured, who was previously with the Real Estate Australia Group.
Company chairman Owen Wilson says that after seven years with the organisation, Skoe has decided the time is right to return to Europe.
During his tenure, he led Trade Me through a period of “significant strategic evolution, strengthening the platform’s core offerings” across New Zealand’s digital landscape.
“On behalf of the board, I want to extend our deepest gratitude to Anders for his outstanding leadership and dedication,” adds Wilson. “He leaves Trade Me in a strong position for future success.”
While Skoe says the decision to step down wasn’t an easy one, he leaves the company in good hands. He adds: “It has been a privilege to lead Trade Me and work alongside such a talented and passionate team.
“I’m proud of everything we accomplished together to serve our customers and community. The company is in a strong position and I’m delighted to hand the baton to Kul. I look forward to seeing where he takes Trade Me next.”
Wilson describes Kargil as an exceptional leader with the qualities needed to guide the company through its next period of growth.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kul as our new CEO. He brings a wealth of executive experience, deep operational expertise and a proven track record delivering business growth. The board is confident his vision and customer-centric approach make him the ideal person to lead the company.”
As chief commercial and marketing officer at Real Estate Australia, Kargil was responsible for the company’s commercial divisions, audience, brand, customer experience and marketing.
Before his time there, he held senior leadership positions across strategy, marketing, sales and brand in financial services at GE Capital and the healthcare sector at GlaxoSmithKline.
Kargil says he’s excited to be returning to New Zealand. “Trade Me has been part of the fabric of Aotearoa for more than two decades. I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to lead this business into its next era.”
