Toyota halts production in Japan

Toyota was forced to suspend operations at all of its assembly plants in Japan after a glitch in its production system this week.
The problem brought domestic manufacturing at the world’s biggest-selling carmaker to a halt on August 29 but the company says it plans to restart production at its factories on August 30.
All 14 of the company’s assembly plants in Japan were affected, with a dozen expected to resume operations from Wednesday morning and the other two set to kick back into action in the afternoon.
Toyota says it is investigating the cause of the malfunction that prevented it from ordering components but it does not believe it was due to a cyberattack, reports Reuters.
The affected plants reportedly account for about one-third of the carmaker's global production and output from those factories averaged about 13,000 vehicles daily in the first half of the year.
