Five stars for Toyota Granvia

The new Toyota Granvia released in New Zealand this month is the first people mover to be awarded a five-star ANCAP safety rating under the latest, most stringent protocols.

AA Motoring Services general manager Stella Stocks says it’s a welcome addition to the luxury people mover range.

"For a model designed to carry families and groups, it’s pleasing to see how seriously safety has been considered with the Toyota Granvia,” Stocks says.

"It carries through the top rating safety scores awarded to the Toyota HiAce van by ANCAP earlier this year and extends the side head-protecting airbags across all four seating rows.

The new generation Audi Q3, also introduced to New Zealand this month, has been awarded five-star ANCAP status, with high marks across safety assist technology.

"The Audi Q3 performed perfectly in the lane keep assist area with a one hundred per cent pass rate in the tests. That included more critical emergency lane keeping scenarios that required the vehicle to intervene to prevent both unintentional and intentional lane crossing as well as run-off the road situations,” Stocks adds.

The Toyota Granvia received 94 per cent for adult occupant protection, 88 per cent for child occupant protection, 84 per cent for vulnerable road user protection and 79 per cent for safety assist.

The Audi Q3 received 95 per cent for adult occupant protection, 88 per cent for child occupant protection, 76 per cent for vulnerable road user protection and 85 per cent for safety assist.
