The spy who loved EVs

A rooster strutting its stuff as a secret agent is helping a Chinese carmaker gain some hilarious and unusual exposure for one of its all-electric models.

An animation featuring the bird as James Bond has reportedly gone viral in China and it has also been shared on Nio’s mobile app as it showcases features of the marque’s ES8.

The video, titled “Being a good agent starts with choosing a good car”, shows Bond and his sidekicks putting vehicles to the test in a computer simulation of an encounter with baddies.

Each model fails as setbacks to the spy escaping include being unable to close a car door and another vehicle is simply a chassis with a sofa, refrigerator, TV and other household items piled on top.

But when a real emergency mission comes in, the agent is offered a Nio ES8 and its virtual voice assistant, self-driving capabilities and zero-gravity seat all combine to help Bond make a smooth getaway.

The amusing video was made by a car blogger called Shiba Coming, reports CnEVPost.
