Successful weekend for POAL
Over 11,000 people visited Ports of Auckland (POAL) on its opening day of the SeePort Festival - a three-day celebration of Auckland City’s beautiful waterfront and rich maritime heritage.
On January 26, festival-goers had the opportunity to explore parts of the HMNZS Canterbury, a Royal New Zealand Navy multi-role vessel, brought alongside Captain Cook Wharf. Also on show were helicopter displays, mini-golf, virtual reality experiences and free bus tours of the port.
The port also played host to an outdoor concert with the Auckland Symphony Orchestra and iconic Kiwi vocalists, The Lady Killers the following night. The night ended with a bang as fireworks were set off high above the Waitematā Harbour.
“We are thrilled to have had more than 11,000 of people behind the red fence today. SeePort is a fantastic opportunity to host Aucklanders and visitors, learn about our port and partners, and most importantly have some fun” says Tony Gibson, POAL CEO.
