Woman in wheelchair evades cop car
Police responding to a report of shoplifting were outmanoeuvred by a woman in a motorised wheelchair as they pursued her down a road in a patrol car.
The comedy-style chase was captured on camera by an eye-witness. Another onlooker suggested the officer should “get out and run” after the suspect managed to twice evade the police vehicle and continue her escape, reports the Daily Mail.
The 33-year-old woman involved in the January 26 pursuit in Sheffield, UK, was later arrested and admitted to shoplifting from a shopping centre.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said in a statement: “The woman was reportedly driving erratically, and an officer followed in a police car due to concern for the woman’s own safety and that of other road users.”
