Stonic gets makeover
Kia has significantly updated its Stonic inside and out, with the compact crossover also boasting new technology.
While it keeps its urban-friendly footprint, visual changes include the front fascia, a redesigned tailgate, modernised tail-light signature and cleaner bumper profile to modernise its dynamic stance.
The Stonic’s new cabin has been redefined with an influence from upper-segment vehicles, says the marque. Dominating the dashboard is a panoramic dual-display layout, which connects two 12.3-inch screens to create a digital instrument cluster and advanced infotainment hub.
Kia has replaced traditional heating and ventilation controls with a sleek multimode touch display, which allows the user to toggle between climate and infotainment menus.
Convenience is boosted with the addition of USB-C fast-charging ports, a wireless smartphone charger and ambient lighting.
The international powertrain line-up has been designed to meet diverse market requirements, including a one-litre turbocharged petrol direct-injection engine.
It will be available in standard internal combustion and mild-hybrid specifications. The latter uses a small electric motor to improve efficiency and cut emissions. It can be mated with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The Stonic, which comes in at 4,165mm long and offers up to 352 litres of cargo capacity, integrates Kia Connect. This offers cloud-based services and remote vehicle interaction through the Kia App. And the new digital-key function allows owners it use a compatible smartphone or smartwatch to unlock and start the car.
