Start-up creates towable extender for EVs

A French company has designed a trailer packed with batteries to help extend the range of electric vehicles (EVs).
EP Tender’s unit carries 60kWh batteries that it claims can add more than 560 kilometres of range to an EV and be charged while driving.
The trailers are not available to purchase at this stage but they can be rented in Europe through an online app, which also keeps drivers informed of how much charge the batteries have left.
Engineers coupled the trailer with a Renault Zoe EV hatch in testing and claim the car’s 193km of range can be boosted to 756km with the trailer, reports CarAdvice.
EP Tender is targeting people who want to drive a small EV – rather than forking out for a larger and more expensive car – but are keen to venture on a big holiday trip.
