Group elects new leaders

Intelligent Transport Systems New Zealand (ITSNZ) has a new chair and deputy chair after an election at its last AGM.

Antony Dixon, pictured, will lead the organisation’s board after winning the vote and Lee McKenzie has been appointed as his deputy.

Dixon says he feels honoured to have secured the position at the annual meeting held late last year.

He has more than two decades of experience in senior roles in New Zealand’s information technology and manufacturing sectors.

His career includes founding RFID antenna manufacturer Times-7, a market-leading exporter, through to senior roles for regionally and globally significant companies, such as Datacom, EDS and IBM.

In February 2023 he joined Cubic Transportation Systems as business development director, New Zealand, with a focus on relationship management and market development.

Dixon is also a member of the Institute of Directors, with his governance experience including roles with Times-7 Research, The Opportunities Party, Wellington ICT Graduate School and Otari Wilton School.

McKenzie has held senior roles at the Ministry of Transport and NZTA. She was most recently manager of future transport at the latter, leading a team researching and supporting emerging technology solutions and advising on how technologies will change the future of transport in NZ.

Supporting industry

In an email newsletter this week, Dixon also notes last year’s appointment of Kim Mundell as ITSNZ’s executive officer.

“Kim was appointed following a competitive process and brings deep experience in association management and the delivery of major national and international conferences,” he adds.

“The board is delighted to have Kim in the role and looks forward to working closely with her as ITSNZ continues to evolve.”

Mundell says since joining ITSNZ she has been working with the board on strengthening the organisation’s systems and infrastructure.

“This foundational work will enable us to roll out improved member services in 2026,” she explains. “Coming soon is the launch of a new website for ITSNZ with a membership portal.

“My goal is simple: to ensure ITSNZ supports members and the wider industry in practical, meaningful ways.”
