Isuzu tops three ladders
Isuzu New Zealand maintained its position as the overall market leader in the heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) segment last year.
The result was achieved in 2025’s significantly softer market with total HCV registrations down by 24.1 per cent compared to 2024, according to Motor Industry Association data for vehicles with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) of more than 3,500kg, which includes some heavy vans.
Isuzu Trucks was the top truck brand in the light duty segment, led by the N Series, and was also the best-selling marque in the medium duty segment led by the F Series.
A milestone for Isuzu NZ in 2025 was introducing the all new N and F Series ranges, bringing step change improvements in emissions performance, safety and driver comfort.
General manager David Ballantyne, pictured, says the results were particularly pleasing given overall market conditions in 2025.
“The services provided by our Isuzu dealer network were again an important factor last year. I also acknowledge the support from long-term and new customers to the brand.”
Highlighting the impact of the new models, he adds: “A highlight for the year was introducing the N and F Series that meet Euro VI and equivalent Japanese emissions standards. Also, they include an increased level of safety features and advanced driver-assistance systems.
“These new models started to arrive late last year and we’re keen to get them into the hands of customers.”
Isuzu NZ’s ongoing success is underpinned by support provided by its nationwide master truck dealer and authorised service centre network, says Ballantyne.
“From vehicle specification and body integration through to after-sales, parts and maintenance, the network plays a central role in keeping operators on the road.
“The strong 2025 performance, despite a contracting market, reflects the enduring confidence in the brand built over many years in New Zealand, and the breadth and suitability of the N and F Series for local operating conditions.
“With the latest N and F Series trucks now entering service, Isuzu NZ is well-placed to continue supporting customers as they respond to tightening emissions standards, increasing safety expectations and growing demands on fleet productivity.”
