Sales surge for used commercials

There were 874 used-imported commercials registered for the first time last month, which was a 71.7 per cent increase compared to just 509 units in February last year.

Toyota led the marques’ ladder with 330 registrations for a market share of 37.8 per cent as its sales numbers climbed from 183 units in the same month of 2021.

Its Hiace was the leading model with 28.1 per cent of February’s market thanks to 246 sales, which was up from 106 for the same period a year earlier.

Nissan was second among the marques with 243 sales for a 27.8 per cent share of the market, and Hino was third with 76 units and 8.7 per cent. 

Sales for the top three marques all made massive gains from a year ago, with Toyota’s increasing 80.3 per cent, Nissan’s up 182.6 per cent and Hino’s climbing 123.5 per cent.

The Nissan NV350, pictured, was runner-up in the model chart with 179 sales and a 20.5 per cent share of the overall total, while the Hino Dutro was third with 52 units sold during February.

Toyota also took top spot among the marques in the year-to date figures with 543 units sold in the first two months for 37.2 per cent of the market.
