Nissan sets world bungee record

The new Nissan Qashqai may boast a range of features but the model also has the honour of holding the world record for the highest bungee jump with a car.

A team from Nissan France performed the daredevil stunt in Puteaux, Paris, as part of a television campaign for the crossover that has hit screens this month.

A Qashqai e-Power, with professional stuntman Laurent Lasko behind the wheel, took the plunge from a 65-metre-high cage held by a crane.

The jump on August 12 was carried out in front of Guinness World Records officials, who validated the feat as a new world record.

“This is the kind of daring and therefore furiously essential challenge that we love at Nissan,” says Jerome Biguet, marketing director of Nissan France.

“In its various TV spots, the Qashqai has tried skateboarding, surfing, paintball … each time thrilling activities.

“The new campaign will see it jumping from building to building. The idea of a bungee jump to symbolise the personality of the new Qashqai quickly came to mind.”
