Murph brings Bathurst fun

Kiwi legend Greg Murphy and a number of other motor racing stars make cameo appearances in a new advert released this week to promote the Repco Bathurst 1000.

Repco has hit play on its 2026 Bringin’ the Bathurst television advert, which features a fictional Bathurst Driving School and a group of students learning what it takes to tackle Mount Panorama and earn their “B” plates.

Leading the hilarious lesson is motorsport voice royalty Neil Crompton, alongside Garth Tander, and a few other familiar faces drop in to show the class how it should, or shouldn’t, be done.

Murphy, Larry Perkins, Dick Johnson, Tom Randall, Brodie Kostecki, David Reynolds and Shannon Noll all make appearances, with plenty of nods to famous Bathurst moments for fans to spot along the way.

The campaign, produced by Repco in conjunction with Australian creative marketing agency Thinkerbell and launched on September 9, also features pop-up kangaroos, tight driving lessons and one student getting a little too confident.

Mitch Wiley, Repco’s executive general manager of marketing, says: “Bringin’ the Bathurst is Repco’s way of sharing a laugh with race fans.

“This year's ad has plenty of familiar faces, moments and in-jokes that make Bathurst what it is. Keep your eyes peeled – there’s plenty in there.”

The 2026 Repco Bathurst 1000 race will be held at the Mount Panorama Circuit from October 8-11.
