New car carrier set for NZ

SAIC Motor has officially launched its first custom-built roll-on, roll-off vessel, which is powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and has a capacity of 7,600 vehicles.
China’s largest carmaker, which has MG among its brands, says the vessel is expected to be put into use next year on the company’s sea routes to Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
The ro-ro, which has been named SAIC Anji Sincerity, was built by Jiangnan Shipyard Company and was officially launched on August 29. It is equipped with LNG dual-fuel technology and low-carbon environmental protection.
SAIC Motor notes that 12 new ocean vehicle carriers are due to be launched by its subsidiary, SAIC Anji Logistics Company, from 2024 to 2026 as it expands the group’s ocean-going fleet.
SAIC Anji Logistics is the world's largest automobile logistics company and its distribution network covers more than 100 countries. It has an annual shipping capacity of more than 10 million vehicles.
