New blue labels for 2024

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) is highlighting the implications for displaying vehicle emissions and energy economy labels (VEEELs) after the clean car discount ends.
From January 1, labels on vehicles and information on stock offered for sale – on yards and online – must be updated.
The requirements specify removing information on the clean car discount (CCD) from VEEELs and online listings, and for the new version to be used.
The new label, pictured above, continues with the same familiar design. However, the CCD fee or rebate and related information has been deleted.
It features a neutral blue colour and applies to all vehicles. The blue colour has been used under the CCD to identify when no fee nor rebate applies “and so is already associated with vehicles where the CCD does not apply”. In addition to the blue label, the option for traders to print them in greyscale has been retained.
“Given the short timeframe to the implementation of the new regulations, EECA will take a fair and balanced approach in ensuring labelling requirements are met by traders,” states an alert issued by the Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association (VIA).
“There is no change to the existing legal obligations to display a label and provide online information for vehicle traders or distributors – just that the CCD information can no longer be displayed.”
An information sheet from EECA outlines what car dealers need to know and do. It also covers technical aspects of data display.
It strongly encourages all traders to check with their web service or dealer-management system providers that they are displaying the required information on all online listings. Click here to download EECA’s PDF.

CCD key points
VIA has sent some guidelines to its members about the end of the feebates scheme. These include:
• From January 1, VEEELs can no longer display or make reference to the CCD.
• From January 1, traders need to reprint and replace all labels with CCD information on stock offered for sale.
• Data feeds via API will be updated to suppress anything related to the CCD and will apply automatically from January 1 to new online listings.
• For current listings, systems providers will simply need to refresh data on January 1 for the updated data to appear – no changes to trader systems are required.
• To avoid any confusion for consumers, all vehicle labels and online listings should be updated as soon as possible from January 1.
