Musk reveals Cybertruck target

Tesla hopes to produce more than 200,000 Cybertruck units every year, according to the marque’s chief executive officer, Elon Musk.

Deliveries of the futuristic-looking electric pickup, which was first revealed at an event in Los Angeles four years ago, are due to start on November 30.

The company previously said it would manufacture more than 125,000 Cybertrucks annually, with Musk adding there was potential to lift it to 250,000 in 2025, reports Reuters.

That initial goal has now been revised and Musk told the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast that producing the vehicle was no easy task.

“We’re aiming to make about 200,000 a year at point production ... maybe a little more, but I just can't emphasise enough that manufacturing is much much harder than the initial design,” he says.

Reuters notes during a recent earnings call, Musk added that Tesla faces “enormous challenges” in increasing production to a level where it will become cash-flow positive.
