Models chasing honours

Nine more models have been named among the contenders for honours in the AA Driven Car Guide NZ Car of the Year 2024 competition.

Finalists for the hybrid/electric vehicle (EV), luxury, and sports categories were revealed on November 15 as part of the build-up to all the winners being announced on November 29.

BYD’s Sealion 6, the Toyota bZ4X and Volve EX30 will contest the hybrid/EV class, while the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Porsche Cayenne and Ranger Rover Sport are the trio chasing the luxury title this year.

In the sports category, it’s a three-way battle between the BMW M2, Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, and Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Performance.

Judges have already revealed the vehicles shortlisted for the SUV awards and voting for the People’s Choice section, which features the 10 top-selling new vehicles of the year, opened in early November.
