Members of the public are being invited to help select one of the winners for the AA Driven Car Guide NZ Car of the Year 2024 awards.

Organisers are calling for votes in the People’s Choice section of the contest, which features the 10 top-selling new vehicles of the year.

Toyota has three models among the finalists, with the Hilux, Hiace and last year’s People’s Choice winner, the RAV4, pictured.

The other vehicles contesting the honour are the Ford Everest, Ford Ranger, Kia Seltos, Mitsubishi Outlander, Mitsubishi Triton, Nissan Navara and Suzuki Swift.

Everyone who votes is in with a chance of winning $5,000 worth of petrol, diesel or electric-vehicle charge credit.

Voting closes at 11am on November 25, with the winner due to be announced on November 29. For more details, click here.

Finalists for the other award categories, which include SUVs, passenger cars and electric vehicles, are due to be announced by judges over the coming weeks before the overall car of the year winner is crowned.

The MG4 took out the 2023 title and became the first battery electric vehicle to win the annual prize.
