Judges announce models chasing honours in three of annual contest’s 10 categories.

Finalists for SUV titles

Nine different marques are vying for honours in the SUV categories of this year’s AA Driven Car Guide NZ Car of the Year competition.

Judges have revealed the top three finalists for the city, medium and large SUV sections of the annual awards, with the winners due to be announced on November 29.

The Jeep Avenger, pictured, Lexus LBX and Toyota C-HR have been pitted against each other in the city SUV category, while the Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage and Nissan X-Trail will battle for the medium SUV title.

In the large SUV class, the final trio are the Ford Everest, Hyundai Sante Fe and Volkswagen Touareg.

Finalists for the other seven categories are due to be announced in the coming weeks and voting is open for the People’s Choice award, which features the 10 top-selling new vehicles of the year.

City SUV: Jeep Avenger, Lexus LBX, Toyota C-HR
