Mercedes-Benz NZ set for move

Mercedes-Benz is shifting its headquarters in New Zealand as part of a broader goal to reduce its carbon footprint.

Mercedes-Benz New Zealand and Mercedes-Benz Financial Services New Zealand are leaving their present home in Mount Wellington, Auckland, and moving into nearby Newmarket in January 2021.

Lance Bennett, general manager, says after nearly a decade in Mount Wellington the company will take up offices in the 277 building, which is owned by the Scentre Group.

“Transitioning to a light-filled, low-impact office with easy access to amenities and public transport helps to reduce our overall footprint, and is consistent with Daimler’s Ambition 2039 targets for sustainability,” he explains.

Parent company Daimler AG is setting environmental goals and is keen to foster more flexible working arrangements in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mercedes-Benz aims to reduce electricity, water and paper usage at the new offices, which are located above Westfield Newmarket. It hopes the move will reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions created by commuting staff and the company will make increased use of digital technology for meetings.
