Mass recall of Cybertrucks

Tesla has announced it is recalling nearly all Cybertrucks in the United States, making it the eighth call-back for the SUV since January 2024.
The latest recall is to fix an exterior panel that could detach while driving and affects about 46,000 vehicles built from November 2023 to February 27 this year, Tesla says in a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The electric carmaker does not break its sales figures down to individual models but the recalled vehicles represent a vast majority of the Cybertrucks on the road, based on analyst estimates, reports Reuters.
Tesla explains it is recalling the cars because of the risk a stainless-steel exterior trim panel may detach from the vehicle, causing a potential road hazard and increasing the chances of a crash.
It notes it is aware of 151 warranty claims that may be related to the recall issue, but none involved collisions or injuries.
The company says it will replace the rail panel assembly with a new one that meets durability testing requirements.
In 2024, Tesla topped the list for US recalls as its vehicles accounted for 5.1 million call-backs, according to recall management firm BizzyCar.
However, most issues were usually resolved with over-the-air software updates, reports Reuters.
