Luxury Italian brand Maserati is set to release its second SUV, the Grecale, down under in the first quarter of 2023.

Pricing and specifications are close to being finalised and should be released in the coming weeks, says Grant Barling, general manager Maserati Australia and New Zealand.

The “Mission from Mars” vehicle was recently showcased in Australia to launch Maserati’s Fuoriserie customisation programme. Customers will soon be able to order their own Grecale, choosing from GT, Modena or Trofeo models.

The SUV represents the start of a roll-out of new product for the brand, Barling says.

“Whether it be Grecale GT, Modena or Trofeo, each will be highly specified as standard, with significant opportunities for Maserati customers to personalise and bespoke their vehicles to their own individual style,” he says.

The Grecale range will kick off with the GT. Its turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 48V mild hybrid will deliver 221kW and 450Nm.

It will be followed by the Modena which features an identical powertrain but delivering 242kW and 450Nm.

Top of the range will be the Trofeo, featuring the Maserati-built Nettuno V6 engine and delivering 390kW and 620Nm.

“We envisage the Grecale quickly becoming a volume-leader for us here in Australia and New Zealand,” Barling says.

Maserati’s first SUV, the Levante, was released in 2016.
