Marque set for annual sales record

Suzuki New Zealand is predicting it will achieve record sales this year after new-vehicle registrations in June eclipsed its previous monthly best set in May.

The marque recorded 835 sales last month, up from 772 in May, with the Suzuki Swift, pictured, its top seller on 289 units.

Suzuki was fourth on the ladder for passenger vehicle sales in June with a market penetration of 8.1 per cent. This compared with a fifth ranking for the whole of 2020 and a 7.3 per cent share.

For the year to date, Suzuki models have accounted for 7.4 per cent of all new car and SUV sales.

The company says its second most popular model in June was the Jimny on 167 units, which was the four-wheel-drive’s highest monthly total so far in 2021.

Next was the Vitara on 146 registrations – also the best figures in the year to date – with the Turbo variant attracting the highest level of demand from buyers.
