Marque increases SUV options
Renault New Zealand is preparing for the imminent arrival of the all-new Arkana to bolster its line-up of SUVs.
The coupe will join the domestic market early this year alongside the marque’s other SUV models, the Koleos and Duster.
The Arkana will be available here in two variants, the base Zen and mid-range Intens, pictured, and pre-orders are available now with pricing starting from $39,990.
Its 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 115kW of power and 262Nm of torque, while a seven-speed, electronic dual clutch helps achieve a combined fuel economy of 6l/100km.
Mixed leather and suede upholstery feature in the cabin, which also boasts electrically adjustable, heated, and ventilated front seats along with a heated leather steering wheel.
Passengers in the Arkana gain extra legroom, which now measures 211mm, while there is also 305mm of foot space and 862mm of rear passenger roof height.
The SUV has a boot capacity of 485l and a false floor that can be mounted or removed as required, which can be turned into a large flat floor once the split rear-bench seat is folded down.
Sam Waller, Renault NZ general manager, says: “The Arkana is a great option for those keen to move away from a small car and into the SUV space but aren’t sure about making the full switch.
“We welcome the arrival of the Renault Arkana to our growing line-up. It’s a good-looking vehicle.”
Also on the inside is a 10.2-inch colour instrument cluster combined with a seven-inch vertical touchscreen, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto fitted as standard.
The experience behind the wheel can be tailored to suit owners with three driving modes – eco, sport, and MySense – and eight ambient lighting colours.
On the safety front, the Arkana achieved a maximum score of five stars in ANCAP crash tests. A suite of advanced driver-assistance systems come standard across the range, including active emergency braking with cyclist and pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control and blind spot warning.
The Arkana is available in six body colours, solid white, metal black, metallic grey, zanzibar blue, flame red, and Valencia orange.
