CarExpert NZ launches video channel
CarExpert New Zealand has launched a video channel, which is being fronted by Jono Capel-Baker, to deliver independent, locally produced car reviews for Kiwi consumers.
The new YouTube channel was launched on October 16 and comes soon after CarExpert confirmed a three-year partnership with Hampton Downs Motorsport Park, which will serve as its primary vehicle testing facility.
Capel-Baker, pictured, will put new vehicles through their paces, testing them across a variety of New Zealand driving conditions for his video reviews.
Mat McNay, CarExpert New Zealand country manager, says the response to its presenter recruitment campaign was overwhelming and it received hundreds of applications.
“Jono is a passionate automotive enthusiast with a strong understanding of what matters to Kiwi buyers, backed by extensive on-screen experience and many years in the automotive space,” he adds.
“As we progressed through the screen tests, Jono became the clear choice.”
McNay notes the focus of CarExpert’s new channel will remain on everyday consumers, but will also feature exotic cars, dream machines and the occasional investigation into how fast a vehicle can travel in reverse.
“Our mission is to help New Zealanders make informed decisions about their next new car through independent, unbiased testing,” he explains.
“We want to take the guesswork out of buying a new car, testing vehicles in local conditions and answering the questions that genuinely matter to Kiwi buyers.”
The New Zealand channel will draw on the experience and insights of CarExpert Australia, which has more than 650,000 subscribers and millions of monthly views.
Capel-Baker says he is excited to be fronting the New Zealand channel, for which Trade Me Motors is the launch sponsor, and is looking forward to getting behind the wheel and putting cars through their paces.
“CarExpert is already making waves locally, and with the new-car market changing so rapidly, there’s never been a more important time to give buyers the information they need.”
