Lotus unveils electric first

Lotus has unveiled its first four-door hyper-GT, with the top specification model set to be capable of clocking 0-100kph in under 2.8 seconds.
The luxury marque says this, along with a top speed of more than 250kph, will make the Emeya one of the fastest electric GTs in the world.
The model, which includes advanced and active aerodynamic features, made its debut in New York this month and production is slated to begin in 2024.
Emeya also has an electronically controlled air suspension system and its on-board sensors feel the road 1,000 times a second and automatically adjust the vehicle to ensure the smoothest ride.
The vehicle’s charging capabilities allow it to add 150km of range with approximately five minutes of charge using a 350kW DC fast charger, or boost range up to 80 per cent within 18 minutes.
Sustainable materials have also been sourced to reduce its carbon footprint, including a new luxury thread made from repurposed fibres from the fashion industry.
Feng Qingfeng, Lotus Group’s chief executive officer, says: “Bringing together our rich heritage with intelligent performance and the latest cutting-edge technologies, we’re pushing the boundaries for how a luxury electric vehicle should look and handle.”
Further information on the Emeya will be released in the fourth quarter, with details on market availability and pricing set to be announced at a future date.
