Honda reveals EV models

The Honda 0 Series – a new electric vehicle (EV) range to be launched globally in two years’ time – has been launched at CES 2024 in Las Vegas.

The show in Nevada has hosted the world premiere of two concepts, the Saloon and Space-Hub, while the company also presented the new H mark to be used for its next-generation fully electric models.

Honda says its 0 Series symbolises how the marque is undergoing a major transformation in-line with its global brand slogan and electrification policy.

The series’ name represents the company taking on the challenge of developing its new EV range by going back to its starting point as a carmaker and creating completely fresh models from “zero.”

From 2026, Honda will begin introducing the first model of its 0 Series globally, starting in North America, then Japan, Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East and South America.

The Saloon, pictured above, is the flagship concept of the series. It embodies Honda’s “thin, light, and wise” approach with its dedicated EV architecture extending the degree of freedom in design.

Honda says the low height and sporty styling of the Saloon “at first glance realises both a fascinating design and an interior that’s more spacious than people can imagine based on the exterior”.

The instrument panel features a human-machine interface that enables simple and intuitive operations.

By adopting steer-by-wire and advancing the motion management system, including posture control, the Saloon aims to realise control “at the will of the driver in a variety of driving situations”.

The Space-Hub, below, has been developed under the theme of “augmenting people’s daily lives”.

It offers a flexible space that accommodates what users want to do, “and becomes a hub that connects people to people and people to society, generating mutual resonance with each other”.

For the 0 Series models, fast-charging from 15-80 per cent will be shortened to about 10-15 minutes.

In the meantime, by applying system control technology based on driving data from more than one million electrified Hondas, the marque is striving to limit the degradation of battery capacity to less than 10 per cent after 10 years’ use.
