Giltrap unveils high-tech store
The Giltrap Group has created what it claims is a world-first interactive showroom to allow people to virtually build and test drive their dream car.
The Car Store is located at Westfield Newmarket in Auckland and uses a number of screens and technology that allow it to transform the site at the flick of a switch.
It means the space at the mall can be used to showcase any of a number of marques, including Porsche, Aston Martin and Lamborghini.
Two eight-metre-wide screens dominate the site and are likened to “living wallpaper” as they are key to creating a bespoke customer experience.
Visitors can also configure their dream car in-store by using tablets and a jumbo touchscreen, with their virtual vehicle then able to be displayed life-sized on the digital walls.
Giltrap, which represents 19 automotive brands, developed the digitally-decorated showroom in-house after it says it could not find the concept being used anywhere else in the world for retail.
Demonstrator vehicles are available at the mall for those consumers wanting to get behind the wheel of a real car.
Giltrap Group partnered with Panasonic to create the store which has already gone from showcasing Porsche, pictured above, on February 22 to transforming into New Zealand’s first Polestar Space, pictured below, the following day.
SIXT is set to showcase its subscription offering at the venue in March and other automotive brands will follow throughout the year.
