Double delight for Cassidy

Nick Cassidy has gone out on a high after winning his final three races for Jaguar TCS Racing in the FIA Formula E World Championship.
The New Zealander swept the season-ending double-header in London, which secured him second spot overall in the drivers’ standings.
Cassidy, pictured, only scored one point in the first six races of the 2024/25 season but his victories in the UK on July 27 and 28, including one from lights to flag, made it three in a row after he also won in the previous round in Berlin.
It marks the end of his two-year association with the team and he is expected to join a rival outfit for the 2025/26 campaign.
“Honestly, I love racing in this place,” Cassidy says of Excel London. “It’s not been that kind to me in the last few years, but this weekend it’s absolutely delivered.
“When this stadium is packed full of people it’s a pleasure to race here and it’s great for Formula E.
“Also, it’s my last race for the team, again I’ve had the best car today, and this one is 100 per cent for them.”
Cassidy finished 13.5 seconds ahead of Mahindra Racing’s Nyck de Vries in the final race of the season to record the second-largest winning margin in Formula E history.
The Kiwi’s teammate and compatriot, Mitch Evans, crossed the line in second spot but was demoted to fifth after being given a five-second penalty for speeding under full-course yellow conditions.
Evans was 10th in the first race of the weekend and finished the season 13th overall.
Nissan’s Oliver Rowland was crowned drivers’ world champion, having already guaranteed that honour in Berlin, while Porsche secured maiden teams’ and manufacturers’ world championship titles ahead of Jaguar TCS Racing.
